BGS SolBridge Chapter Fosters Community Sharing Through Give Back Week New
The Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) SolBridge
Chapter continued its commitment to community through Give Back Week,
held from September 2 to 4, 2026, at SolGeo Dormitory.
Inspired by the broader BGS spirit of giving back through Purpose, Leadership, and Community, the SolBridge Chapter has developed a local initiative that responds directly to the needs of its student community. Rather than allowing useful belongings to go unused when students leave campus, the initiative creates a cycle of sharing between students at different stages of their SolBridge journey.
From One Semester to the Next
The Give Back initiative creates a bridge
between students leaving SolBridge and those beginning a new chapter of their
university experience.
Items that might otherwise remain unused
or be discarded can instead continue to serve a purpose within the student
community. During Give Back Week, students were able to browse the available items
and take those that they needed or found useful.
This simple process turns individual belongings into shared community resources, helping extend the useful life of items while supporting students as they settle into a new semester.
Building a Culture of Sharing
For an international student community
such as SolBridge, where students regularly graduate, participate in exchange
programs, and move between countries, the cycle of giving and reuse can have a
meaningful impact.
Give Back Week provides a practical way
for students who are leaving the campus community to leave something behind for
those who come after them. In turn, new and current students can benefit from
resources that have already been shared by members of the SolBridge community.
More than simply distributing items, the initiative reflects a culture of consideration, resource sharing, and community responsibility.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals
The BGS SolBridge Chapter's Give Back
Week contributes to several of the United Nations Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).
SDG 12
Responsible Consumption and Production:
Give Back Week directly supports responsible
consumption by extending the useful life of donated items and encouraging reuse
rather than unnecessary disposal or replacement. The initiative shows how
existing resources can circulate within a community instead of becoming waste.
SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and
Communities:
The initiative encourages sustainable practices at the
campus-community level by promoting reuse, reducing unnecessary waste, and
strengthening a culture of resource sharing.
SDG 4 Quality Education:
A positive educational experience depends not only on
what happens inside the classroom, but also on creating a supportive
environment for students. By making practical resources available to students,
Give Back Week contributes to a supportive and inclusive campus experience.
The BGS SolBridge Chapter looks forward to continuing this cycle in the semesters ahead, creating opportunities for students to share, reuse, and give back in ways that make a lasting difference.
