In order to make your journey to and arrival at SolBridge more comfortable we have prepared the following guide for students travelling to Korea for the first time. Please plan your travel arrangements so you arrive in time for orientation. Three days (see table) have been assigned for Student Services staff members to meet with new students at Incheon International Airport and help arrange transport to the SolBridge campus.

Classes begin on 2 March.

If you are unable to arrive during the assigned days, this handy guide will direct you to SolBridge.

We strongly recommend that you plan to arrive during the day-time, simply because there are more people around to help you in case you need assistance. The average temperature in Korea for this time of year (February) is ยฑ6หšC, so remember to pack some warm clothes.

Changing money

Please bring at least the equivalent of US $100 with you. You will need to have some local currency to buy a bus ticket and make a phone call. It is a good idea to purchase Korean Won at your departure point if you are arriving between midnight and 7 a.m.
Money changers at Incheon International Airport are located by the customs clearance area.

Daejeon Bus

Taking a bus from the airport is the most convenient and cost-effective way to reach Daejeon. You will find ticket counters that sell bus tickets inside the airport Terminal Building and outside, near the bus stop.

Location of bus ticket counters

Inside the terminal: Exits 4 & 9

Outside the terminal: Exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13 and at Bus Stop 9C.

When you buy the ticket, ask for the seat number. Most ticket sellers speak some English and each ticket is for a specific seat on the bus. The seat number is also written on the ticket.

The bus for Daejeon will stop at point 9D. Make sure that you are there on time, because buses usually arrive and depart promptly. After purchasing a ticket you may proceed to the bus stop marked 9D. A sign is posted at the bus stop listing the route destinations. You will see โ€œDaejeonโ€ on this sign as well as on the bus itself.

When the bus arrives, you will have to load your luggage in the luggage compartments that will be opened by the bus driver. The compartment closest to the front of the bus is usually reserved for the last stop in Daejeon โ€“ Dong-bu Terminal. That is where you should place your luggage. If you are unsure, just tell the driver โ€œterminalโ€ and he will show you where to put the luggage.

The last bus stop is at Daejeonโ€™s Dong-bu Bus Terminal. This is where you get off the bus and claim your luggage.

The first bus from Incheon International Airport to Daejeon Dong-Bu Bus Terminal is at 6:00 am and the last bus leaves the airport at 11:10 pm.

The fare for the Standard bus is KRW 14,500 and KRW 21,800 for the Deluxe (Limousine Bus).

The journey takes approximately 3 hours with a 10 minute break along the way. If you get off the bus to use the washroom, be sure to note the bus license plate number so that you return to the correct bus. Do not panic if you are still in the bus for over 3 hours. The driver will get you safely to your destination.

There are two scheduled stops before your final destination (not counting the break stop). The bus may not halt at them if there are no passengers alighting. Just sit back, relax and wait until the final stop. If you do get anxious, you could ask a fellow passenger if you have reached Dong-bu Terminal, or show him this slip. When the bus finally stops at the terminal, this is where you get off โ€“ and remember to collect all your luggage.

DO NOT GET OFF THE BUS UNTIL IT HAS REACHED ITS FINAL DESTINATION AT THE TERMINAL.

In areas where you find international travellers, you will find that many people speak English. If you cannot find anyone to speak English, we have provided a few useful phrases for you to use.
