South African Ambassador to Visit SolBridge

H.E. Stefanus Schoeman the Ambassador of South Africa to the Republic of Korea spoke at the Asia Institute concerning South Africa's new engagement with Korea on 13 May, 2008. He was accompanied by his Economic Counsellor, Mr. Sake van der Wal. The presentation will involve issues pertaining to trade with Africa and South Africa's role as the economic powerhouse of the continent.
Ambassador Stefanus Johannes Schoeman became the Ambassador to Korea in July 2005. H.E. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a THED degree from the University of Pretoria. After working as a teacher in South Africa, he joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1976, beginning work at the Embassy in London in 1978. The Ambassador also worked as a self-employed businessman and held a variety of government posts, including being a Member of Parliament. He served as Chief of Staff to President F.W. de Klerk during the time he was leader of the official opposition.
